Adopt a creature

Welcome to the Brent Lodge creature adoption scheme. We are glad to invite you to help with the costs of caring for a particular kind of creature by becoming an adopted "parent". We offer the choice of adopting a permanent resident, or a hospital patient (or both, if you can afford it!).

When you adopt a hospital patient, you are given the opportunity to assign a name to him or her, which will appear on your "adoption certificate". In addition to the certificate, you will also receive a photograph of your adopted creature.

That's not all! An adoption also comes with one year's full membership subscription to the Trust, which includes our biannual newsletter!

You are also welcome to make an adoption on behalf of someone else, as a gift. Our gift adoptions have proven very popular in recent years!

We would send your Gift adoption pack either directly to you, or the recipient of the gift, as per your instruction. You can also choose whether to have the adoption pack gift-wrapped (at no extra cost) in Christmas, Birthday or plain paper, and we will add a tag upon which is written your own personalised message.

Adopt online - it's quick and easy!

Adopting a patient or resident online is only a few mouse clicks away! Once you have decided what kind of creature to adopt, you will be provided the option to a) Instantly pay online via our secure transaction processor "PayPal", or b) Send your adoption fee to us by post.

Important Information

Permanent residents will probably have many "adopters". The costs of housing, feeding and generally looking after those animals that cannot be released are great. Therefore, multiple "adopters" help to provide the financial support that is necessary to maintain them. You will not become the legal "owner" of the resident that you "adopt".
If you choose to "adopt" a hospital patient, you will be contributing to the costs of caring for that kind of creature. However, you will not become the legal "owner" of a patient and will not be able to take your adopted creatures home when they have recovered!

How much does it cost?

The following table shows the adoption fee (for one year) for various creatures at Brent Lodge.

For a small additional cost we can also include a Brent Lodge DVD or Happy BirdDay booklet in with your adoption pack. Please order them separately from the Online Store section of this website and add a note saying that you'd like them included in with your adoption pack.
